LORE is a browser extension that aims to support the digital practice of researchers and teachers of literary cultures.
LORE's compound object authoring and publishing tool enables scholars to:
- Gather web resources and organise and tag them, describe links between them and make notes about them using a graphical editor.
- Discover compound objects that others have created about related topics and web resources.
- Publish the information that they have gathered as compound objects so that others can find them and reuse the information.
- Present the information that they have gathered and discovered using automatically generated slideshows and diagrams.
LORE's annotation tool enables scholars to:
- Contribute comments, notes and additional information by annotating web resources.
- Search and browse annotations contributed by others.
- Discuss topics and resources by replying to annotations created by others.
LORE was originally developed by the UQ ITEE eResearch Lab thorugh the Aus-e-Lit project. The project was funded from 2008 - 2011 by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) Platforms for Collaboration, through the National eResearch Architecture Taskforce (NeAT), and by the University of Queensland, Australia.
The LORE annotation tool is being extended in 2011 as part of the Open Annotation Collaboration.
LORE is currently available as a Firefox add-on through AMO, and a Chrome version is planned.
