Backport of #2446 to
branch-3.9.This brings the fix for a Kerberos shutdown hang to 3.9. The production changes are unchanged from the original PR. I moved the setting's documentation to the files used on this branch and marked it new in 3.9.7. In
ShellTest, I replacedThread.onSpinWait()withThread.yield()so the test compiles with Java 8.
