A minor mode for folding linebreaks after sentences in TeX-fold-mode in Emacs
NOTE: Still pretty beta, but it has worked ok for me.
If you are writing LaTeX with a “one-sentence-per-line” approach (to simplify version control) but still would like your code to be displayed in a more “document-like” way, this package is for you.
The minor mode defined in this package adds folding of “sentence line breaks” to the usual commands of TeX-fold (part of AUCTeX) making sentences ended by a punctuation character (customizable in tex-fold-linebreaks-sentence-end-punctuation) look like ordinary sentences.
By default this for example means that
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Mauris pellentesque fringilla justo, quis dapibus velit tincidunt quis? Quisque varius ligula arcu, ut imperdiet risus maximus nec.
will be folded to
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit⁎ Mauris pellentesque fringilla justo, quis dapibus velit tincidunt quis❓ Quisque varius ligula arcu, ut imperdiet risus maximus nec⁎when any tex-fold command that affects this text (e.g. tex-fold-region or tex-fold-buffer) is issued. The punctuation characters are replaced by slightly fancier unicode variants to emphasize that they have folded a line break (configurable in tex-fold-linebreaks-sentence-end-punctuation)
Additionally, when enabled, the minor mode makes the punctuation characters configured in tex-fold-linebreaks-sentence-end-punctuation insert an additional line break when typed, unless we are typing some common expressions where a punctuation character shouldn’t end a sentence (defined in tex-fold-linebreaks-non-sentence-punctuation-regexp). This feature can be disabled by setting tex-fold-linebreaks-rebind-characters to nil.
