1.3.0 Release

This release is another big one with changes that make CovCheck the go-to app for any time you need to check EU Digital Certificates, so let's just start with the new headline features

New PDA Mode

You read that right, CovCheck now supports Honeywell PDAs directly, with other PDAs also supported as keyboard inputs. This means that CovCheck is now faster than ever and more suited to high traffic environments where the scan rate is very high. This mode will be automatically activated if a Honeywell PDA is detected, and can be activated through the new settings screen if necessary for the rest.

I have tried it with Munbyn iPda-035 and @pedropastor has tried it with a Honeywell EDA50 and the results are great. These features also mean that desktop support is now possible (only on PDA mode) in case you need to use a Windows, Linux, or macOS device.

New Settings Screen

With all these new features we needed a place to configure everything, so today CovCheck introduces the Settings page, where you can change the language, theme (dark or light), and PDA mode in addition to viewing the supported status and updating certificates.

This settings screen gives you more control than ever over CovCheck, while still being intuitive.

Update Certificates via the internet

Last but not least, you can now fetch the latest certificates from the internet directly, instead of having to wait for a new application release.

This release comes packed with new features and improvements. CovCheck is now a fully-compliant scanner for EU DGC cards! With this release, we are doing the following:

• Add support for recovered certificates
• Add additional checks for certificate validity (e.g., not only checking cryptographic validity but also complete dosage, negative tests, and expired recovery certificates)
• Added additional details to the main info screen to indicate vaccination doses, recovery validity, and test results
• Refactored most of the app to improve maintainability
