Selection of a playground Location for the elderly in Busan to prepare for the aging society

Introduction

According to the National Statistical Office, the Republic of Korea will enter a super-aged society in 2025. Among the seven largest cities in the country, Busan entered the super-aged society in 2021. The importance of health care for the elderly, who are increasingly occupying a large proportion of society's population, is emerging. Starting with Gongju City, Chungcheongnam-do, Seoul has announced that it will set up a playground for the elderly in all autonomous districts by 2025. The Busan is pursuing a policy to create a 15-minute happy city that is friendly to the elderly, and soon there will be discussions on a playground for the elderly. Our goal is to create an optimal location analysis program for the elderly playground in Busan City using public data based on the World Health Organization WHO Aging-friendly City Domain.

Pipeine

  1. Select an area with a high housing ratio for the elderly
  2. Calculation of the score by candidate site within the selected area based on the slope and the location of public transportation facilities
  3. Select the top three candidate sites and conduct field surveys and questionnaires.
  4. Visualize and propose candidate locations on the dashboard by priority.

Project progress to date

  1. Data preprocessing for location analysis (population density, inclination, public transportation)
  2. Building Dashboards with data visualization

Future Plans

  1. Additional variables related to playgrounds for the elderly
(medical care hospitals, silver towns, traditional markets etc.)
  2. Analysis of all the section in Busan
  3. Advanced location selection criteria (inter-buffer aggregation)
  4. Database complements dashboards due to increased data volume
