Open Source AWE for Simulation and Control

Goals of this organization:

  • to support the cooperation between startups and academia
  • to develop a complete stack of simulation, estimation, optimization and control software for all major AWE concepts
  • by doing so, reduce the costs for developing the initial software stack for startups
  • furthermore, to provide reference models for the International Energy Agency (IEA) such that major stackholders can inform themselves about AWE concepts and performance characteristics

The software projects should be developed according to the following guidelines:

  • common input file formats: YAML files to define the model, MAT files to define the 3D wind field, CSV files for polars etc
  • common output file formats: Apache arrow or CSV for time-series data (log files), YAML files for heterogenous aggregated data
  • installation should be easy and possible on Linux, Windows and MAC
  • no commercial software licenses should be required
  • common 3D viewer, common plotting scripts for 2D plots
