Out of curiosity (ie we don't need to block the merge over this) but why do we set the ood_core version only in Gemfile.lock, while our Gemfile mentions a much older version?

Probably just historical reasons. I'd have to check the git blame to see if it was ever any other way.

Since the ood_core update actually includes more changes than the one I removed, let's wait to merge this until simon's #4475 is merged.
