ACK

Instead of playing pitiful politics, let people do what they want. This is the whole point of the problem, blinded by the grudges you guys hold against opposing views will entrench further those who you dislike and will further everyone's hostilities instead of defusing it. It pisses me off every time when I see nobody able to reach a compromise because they live only to piss one another off. Fix this program. Merge the pull request.

Please don't force such things on users. I don't like Gab but this doesn't mean I would accept blocking them forcefully in Sengi.

I support this PR.

@karozagorus It always amaze me how people tend to think other people's decisions wasn't well thought and they didn't do it for good reasons.

I believe too that polarization is an issue, but Gab isn't really a place open to discussion and true debate. And I believe that Gab is part of the problem in this issue, not part of the solution.
And that's why they finally stop federating with the rest of the Fediverse: the ones they would like to harass where out of reach and they got punched in the face by the others. That's why they blocked freespeechextremist.com very quickly by the way. How illustrative is that? They value Free Speech ONLY IF it goes their way, but quickly discard it when it's not the case anymore.

This block is mostly a symbolic thing. It's very easy to remove. The license permits you to perform the modification, to use and even to distribute it afterward. You don't need me to remove it and use it.

About the idea that software should always be neutral, let me state this very clearly so that there would be no ambiguity left: I don't share this idea at all. I understand why people can agree with this idea, and I respect it when they do, but it's not my case, so please respect it as well.

let people do what they want

So let me do what I want.
It's my freedom of speech to state very clearly through my own work what I think about some communities and ideologies.

Gab is about as far away from "Free Speech" as you can get. They block/ban all sorts of shit, it just happens to be on a different rubric than most other websites since Gab is a far-right fundamentalist christian community that flirts with white nationalism. If you post anything that doesn't fit with that ideology the banhammer comes down quick. There is an argument to be made for promoting "free speech" in apps like this, but if you're using Gab to make that argument, you've already lost it.

Dear @NicolasConstant I understand your point. But I disagree with the way you try to implement it. Of course you have all right to do what you think it is the best and no doubt anybody else can fork this project and do the other. This is not the issue here.

Mastodon was the initial place where the discussion around Gab began. As far as I know, Mastodon didn't hard code Gab in its blacklist but many Mastodon instances have a shared blacklist in which Gab is included.

If you add feature to make blacklist and put these instances in config file, I would support it. This way you achieve you goal and if in case somebody want to add or remove items from the list, can do. Just don't hard code.

everyone complaining about this seem to forget one important thing. fork it and remove it yourself~ it's the beauty of open source.
(unless he does not allow it because i didn't read the license, can he even not allow it?)

I complain but also I mentioned that forking is an option. Just because this option is on the table, it doesn't mean we shouldn't communicate for betterment of the project. I still keep my own position in this regard. I think this cab be added as option but not hard coded.
