This release coincides with the first publication announcing sunstardb, to appear in a special edition of The Astrophysical Journal Supplemental (ApJS). This version contains the following features:

• Feature-complete database schema for all the functionality envisioned for sunstardb
• Data Package system for inserting heterogeneous data files
• Administration scripts for adding and removing data and provenance metadata
• Basic APIs for connecting to the database, querying provenance metadata, datasets, and timeseries
• Jupyter notebook integration
• Installation documentation and usage examples

This is a beta release, indicating that the APIs may change in future releases.
