Create a Discord Server for Testing

This is pretty simple, really. You will need your own server to test your fork of the bot. In your server, you will need at least 1 text channel, which is a "cache" channel for the bot to freely upload files to. This is the absolute bare minimum to get the bot running. Apart from that, you'll probably also want to create a text channel to issue commands in.
You can create additional channels for logging, if needed. See the config reference for details.
