Welcome to the IP500-demo-system wiki!
The demonstration system will be used to demonstrate the features of the IP500 network. A default demo system contains 1 gateway and 6 nodes. A note or gateway unit consists of a RaspberryPi 3B+ with a CNX200 HAT board. Nodes can connect to several sensors or actuators, like Temperature, Humidity, movement, magnetic switch, CO2, LEDs, relais etc.
The data will be hop from the node through a mesh of max 3 nodes to the Gateway. And vice versa. The Gateway will be connected to a BMS (Building Management System) and/or to the Cloud where data is collected and decisions are being taken. The acquisition of the sensor data and control of the actuators can be performed in the node RaspberryPi. For instance when a metering device is connected through ModBus to the RPi, the measured data is sent from the RPi to the BMS through the IP500 network.
One target of the project / demonstrator is to convince users of the reliability and good performance of the IP500 network. Convincing arguments are the changes in the hopping table (3 paths and max 3 hops), depending on range, interference, etc. The Signal strength, RSSI, is an important qualifier of the Link quality. Latency of the loop [Gateway to Node and Node to Gateway] is important too (e.g. flipping a switch to turn on a lamp).
A dashboard to visualise these important parameters need to be made. The Dashboard can run on any browser and be shown on e.g. a mobile device.
