This is just a few notes on setting up RetroPlayer with Kodi using LibreElec:

Install LibreElec

Get a fresh SD card and flash a stable build of LibreElec:

https://libreelec.tv/downloads/

Plug into the pi and set up network so you can access the files over samba.

Update with Kodi 18 Test Build:

Until Kodi 18 stable is released you'll need to download test builds that have retroplayer included. Download the Tar file here:

https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=298461

Transfer the Tar file to the Update folder on your pi and reboot.

Enable RetroPlayer

In order to enable retroplayer you need to put in the Konami Code:

KonamiCode

Plaintext:

up up down down left right left right B A

If you did it right you'll see a games option show up in the menu.

Install Addons:

You'll need to install the emulators or cores you want to play which can be installed from the addons menu

You'll have to add your own ROMs in order to play.

Internet Archive Rom Launcher:

If you don't want to source all your ROMs on your tiny SD card you can use temporary roms through the internet archiver rom launcher addon.

Download the zip here:

https://github.com/zach-morris/repository.zachmorris/tree/master/repository.zachmorris

and transfer to the downloads folder on your home folder then install addon from zip and then install the addon from zach morris repos.

some cores are buggy and crash and others have janky inputs. but its functional
