Current Goals

This section outlines the current goals for the project. Each overarching goal is presented as a major heading, followed by specific details in a hierarchical bullet point structure. These goals are focused on addressing key questions related to the project's development and capabilities:

  1. Investigate neuroelasticity for intuitive augmentation
    • Examine the brain's response to using the additional thumb.

Goal 1: Expand Current Thumb Capabilities

  • Implement second DOF motor

  • Locate another muscle pair that is both intuitive and has enough bandwidth to control thumb adduction

  • Include measures to allow for differences between users

    • Consider adding calibration settings to customize limits based on the user's muscle signal strengths.
    • Add an intuitive UI for tuning different scaling and filtering factors
  • Mechanical redesign

  • Redesign current pulley based system for better mechanical properties

  • Investigate the feasibility of pneumatics vs. cost and function

Goal 2: User Feedback

  • Improve current synthetic skin
  • Investigate LIG further for possible high resolution touch feedback
  • Integrate current FSC skin and haptic motor into overall code
