Logging into the server in lab or remotely

When using a Mac ON campus network:

  1. Open your Finder app, and then click Go -> Connect to server...
  • Enter this server address: smb://itf-rs-store24.hpc.uiowa.edu/vosslabhpc/
  • For name enter hawkid and password enter hawkid-password
  1. You should then see the server in your Finder viewer, and in the terminal it should show up under /Volumes/ like:
(base) PSYC-M095:~ mwvoss$ cd /Volumes
(base) PSYC-M095:Volumes mwvoss$ ls
Macintosh HD	vosslabhpc
(base) PSYC-M095:Volumes mwvoss$

When using a Mac OFF campus network:

  1. Sign into VPN (https://its.uiowa.edu/vpn)
  • Enter hawkid for username, and sms for password
  • The GUI will appear again. Enter your password in the first field and sms code that was texted to you in the password field
  1. Open your Finder app, and then click Go -> Connect to server...
  • Enter this server address: smb://itf-rs-store24.hpc.uiowa.edu/vosslabhpc/
  • For name enter hawkid and password enter hawkid-password
  1. You should then see the server in your Finder viewer, and in the terminal it should show up under /Volumes/ like:
(base) PSYC-M095:~ mwvoss$ cd /Volumes
(base) PSYC-M095:Volumes mwvoss$ ls
Macintosh HD	vosslabhpc
(base) PSYC-M095:Volumes mwvoss$
