This repository contains the KiCad files for a high-power pulsed LED strobe board used for very short, very bright flashes during camera exposure.

Video script and notes:

Main project folder:
KiCad/strobe-light/
Manufacturing outputs:
KiCad/strobe-light/manufacturing outputs/
Included fabrication files:
- Gerbers (
*-F_Cu.gbr,*-B_Cu.gbr, mask, paste, silkscreen, edge cuts) - Drill files (
*-PTH.drl,*-NPTH.drl) - Job file (
*.gbrjob)
Notes:
- For PCB ordering, use the files in
KiCad/strobe-light/manufacturing outputs/. - Check BOM entries for specific manufacturer part numbers of certain components.
- Powered by a 24vdc supply, I used a 6A adapter, but 1A should work fine (untested).
- If using long strobe durations or high pulse frequencies, beware of thermals. In my testing I did not exceed 250us @ 40hz.
- Trigger input signal is a 5v differential pair, any RS485 or RS422 transmitter should work.
- The EFUSE limits inrush to avoid tripping overcurrent protection on small power adapters. Ready when status LED is OFF.
- EFUSE will also trip if you attempt to run the LEDs continuously.
The camera controller board in KiCad/camera-controller/ is included for reference, but it currently needs fixes before it should be considered production-ready.
Don't stare at the light.
