Learning Management System (LMS) Readme

Introduction

Access to quality education is crucial for personal development, economic empowerment, and social progress. However, various barriers such as financial constraints, limited resources, and geographic isolation often hinder individuals, particularly those from underserved communities, from accessing learning opportunities and acquiring new skills. To address this challenge, we have developed a Learning Management System (LMS) aimed at democratizing access to education.

Problem Statement

The problem statement revolves around the obstacles that prevent individuals, especially those from marginalized backgrounds, from accessing quality education. Financial constraints, limited resources, and geographic isolation are some of the significant barriers that hinder the acquisition of new skills and knowledge.

Solution

Our solution is to design and implement a Learning Management System (LMS) that breaks down these barriers by providing free, high-quality learning resources to students. This LMS empowers individuals to acquire new skills and knowledge regardless of their socioeconomic background or geographic location.

To run a Django project, you'll need to follow these general steps. Make sure you have Python and Django installed on your system before proceeding.

Step 1: Clone the Repository

If the Django project is hosted on a version control platform like GitHub, you can clone the repository to your local machine using Git. Open your terminal and run:

git clone <repository_url>

Replace <repository_url> with the actual URL of the repository.

Step 2: Navigate to the Project Directory

Once the repository is cloned, navigate to the project directory using the cd command:

cd <project_directory>

Replace <project_directory> with the name of the directory where your Django project is located.

Step 3: Install Dependencies

Next, you'll need to install the project dependencies. Typically, Django projects use a requirements.txt file to specify the dependencies. You can install them using pip:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Step 4: Run Migrations

Before running the Django project, you need to apply migrations to set up the database schema. Run the following command:

python manage.py migrate

Step 5: Create a Superuser (Optional)

If your Django project includes user authentication and administration, you can create a superuser account to access the admin panel:

python manage.py createsuperuser

Follow the prompts to create a superuser account.

Step 6: Run the Development Server

Once the dependencies are installed and migrations are applied, you can start the development server:

python manage.py runserver

This command will start the Django development server, and you should see output indicating that the server is running. By default, the server runs on http://127.0.0.1:8000/.

Step 7: Access the Application

Open your web browser and navigate to http://127.0.0.1:8000/ (or http://localhost:8000/). You should see your Django application running.

Step 8: Access the Admin Panel (Optional)

If you created a superuser account in Step 5, you can access the Django admin panel by navigating to http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin/ and logging in with the superuser credentials.
