How to contribute

Richard Murray edited this page Aug 5, 2018 · 1 revision

If you want to contribute a change to the protocols on this site, here is what you need to do:

  1. “Fork” a copy of the repository to your account. You can do this by using the “Fork” button at the top right of the GitHub page for the repository. This will create a copy of the repository in your GitHub account.

  2. Make changes to the file that you want to modify (e.g., protocol-list.md). Files ending in .md use MarkDown for formatting. MarkDown files can be edited directly in GitHub (in your account) or you can “clone” it to your local computer.

  3. Once you have made changes, there should be a button that pops up that says “Create pull request”. When you click on that button, you will be taken to a page where you can summarize the changes you are suggesting and then submit the pull request. As soon as you submit, it will show up on the main BuildACell site, whether others can see it and comment on it.

That's it!
