Add new language file type support?

Is it possible to add a new language ft: entry to match new file types (e.g. PlantUML .puml files)? If so, how? As a config or as a new Lua plugin?

You can do it by creating a syntax file in ~/.config/micro/syntax/puml.yaml.

There is a section on syntax files syntax in help colors. In addition to the brief explanations on the help page you may want to study some of the built-in syntax files under runtime/syntax/

Will adding a syntax file make micro detect the file type & announce it to Lua API, so, for example, snippets plugin will take puml instead of unknown?
