Brainstorming :: Scripting API

There are two questions I would like to ask here:

1. What language are we using? Do we make our own custom scripting language or is something like Lua enough?
2. What part of the API do we want to expose to users of this feature? Depending on this question, even Lua can be overkill for our use case.
