Hi dears creators of my main notes system for over 15 years :)

Although I love Zim; this makes me crazy more or less every time I use it: automatic page creation from jump to dialog !

Steps to reproduce the problem

  • I want to open a note, I know some words in its title
  • I call my best friend Jump Tool (ctrl + J)
  • I start typing some chars
  • the page I want to open is listed in the result list
  • here I've to press [Down] [Enter] [Enter] to open it
  • I often "miss" a step here and create an unwanted page somewhere (this happens 80% of the time; don't make fun of my inability to miss this key on the keyboard ;)

Solution proposed

I'd really love to have an option to disable this automatic page creation in Jump Tool. In 15 years of everyday use I never used this auto-creation feature. I always create pages manually from the tree, or using ctrl-N.

This is exactely the same idea as @osky85 in #1242 (comment) and so closely related to this other issue

Hi @brunetton. Can you confirm if this “missed step” happens because of #536? In short, if your mouse is hovering the list, the autocomplete doesn't work and a new page will be created with the partial page name that was typed.

Thanks for the hint; I did some testing and indeed it seems that it's related to the mouse cursor being hovering the window 😲 Crazy !
