Shadows not rendering properly #43
Comments
Hi, I'll try to look into the shadow issue later today, this is definitely new to me and something that needs fixing. Out of interest: do you have any errors in the game logs? As for a few of the other things:
This is the default preset of the mod. Check out the README for instructions on changing the preset. You might like
The example images in the README also make use of several post-processing mods (some of which I am the author, and others that I am not). The effect you're talking about is the 'point glow' effect which comes packaged with my cloud mod. You'll need to install it too in order to get that visual effect. |
Yeah, I've given all the presets a look over. Vanilla was closest to what I was after, but I liked the feeling that the sun was actually doing something in the default preset. Adjusting the sun strength of Vanilla didn't quite nail it for me (really wish these were able to be previewed in real time when adjusting). That and all of the presets make interiors and night a bit too dark for my liking. It's hard to find that perfect balance. But that's more of a me issue. As for errors in the log, I don't really see any, pertaining to shaders at least. I've emphasized (bold/italic) the things that look dubious to me.
As for the point glow in the cloud mod. I'll give that a go. I hadn't installed the cloud mod, since I figured the volumetrics would be a bit too taxing, so hopefully I can just get the point lights from it. |
You'd be surprised! On low settings they're very cheap but still look pretty decent. But yes, if you wish, the mod contains many settings, including the ability to turn off both clouds and mist so you only end up with point glow. |
I am too having the same issue on 0.49.0. It seems that shadows don't render at all. They work fine with the vanilla shaders, though. |
I'm sure it's an issue on my end, but I can't get shadows to show up when using this shader, making things look really bright and unnatural. I'm using OpenMW 0.49
Here's the default shaders. Note the shadows under the tree, and the terrain shading.
And here's this shader. There's no shadows under the trees, and the landscape looks like an extremely bright, unlit/shadeless texture.
Here's my settings as well as cfg. I don't think there's anything wrong, and I simply copy/pasted the shader settings into the resources folder as instructed (overwriting when asked).
I'm not sure what the issue is, but I know that shadows should be present, as they look like they are in the preview images on the github for these.
Speaking of the example images, I don't think the bloom is working either, as none of my lanterns glow like in this example.
Thanks!
