Nice work! Simple and to the point. I can think of only a couple features to add -

1.Category's for blog posts (keep dates of course), which we could add in the top meta area of a post then have show in the sidebar somewhere just like dates do now.
2. When on the home page the full text of each blog post is shown. Only a couple of sentences from each post would be nice with a "Read More" link under each one.
