Getting Started Guide: Stuck on step 7 (west packages pip --install)

Hello,

I am installing every dependencies of Zephyr and Zephyr SDK on a docker Image.
Unfortunatelly, on step 7, I am getting an error.

The command on step 7 is:

west packages pip --install

I am getting the error code:
Step 12/12 : RUN zephyrproject\.venv\Scripts\activate.bat ; west packages pip --install ---> Running in fe1d767ff8f0 usage: west [-h] [-z ZEPHYR_BASE] [-v] [-q] [-V] <command> ... west: unknown command "packages"; do you need to run this inside a workspace? The command 'powershell -Command zephyrproject\.venv\Scripts\activate.bat ; west packages pip --install' returned a non-zero code: 1

What is my mistake?
The Image uses windows as OS, not Linux.

Which version of Zephyr do you have? west packages has been introduced in v4.1.0. Before this you need to run

$ pip install -r zephyr/scripts/requirements.txt

So I read the VERSION file:
The content is:

VERSION_MAJOR = 4 VERSION_MINOR = 1 PATCHLEVEL = 0 VERSION_TWEAK = 0 EXTRAVERSION = rc2

SDK is

0.17.0

That appears correct, would you be able to share your docker script? Is there an application manifest?

Unfortunatelly, I cannot share the full docker script. This project is not private.
But the dockerscript corresponds to the guide, so I can share parts of it:

The download of the SDK is not doing by wget, because it doesnt work.
So we have a different solution, which I cannot share it.

There is no application yet. I only compiled Blinky and Hello_World Samples.

Very peculiar, I'm not able to test a Windows Dockerfile here ATM.

Do other extensions work? Like west boards?

Ah wait, I think I see an issue. If you're using powershell, you need to activate the virtual environment using:

RUN .\zephyrproject.venv\Scripts\Activate.ps1

Note the ps1 vs .bat extension.

Maybe I am now able to install the SDK through west.

Can I ask here, how I am able to fix the version of the Zephyr Core files?
For example to v4.1.0?
I am afraid about, when I build the dockerfile later again, it will suddenly download newer version, I am not aware about it.

You could init to a tagged version then, currently v4.1 is being released and the second candidate has been tagged.

$ west init zephyrproject -mr v4.1.0-rc2 -o=--depth=1

Thanks, but there has to be 2 - - for "mr" flag
--mr v4.1.0-rc.

I am getting the same error, but I do have the virtual environment activated. I tried in Powershell and a simple command prompt. Fails with both. Any other thoughts as to why this command fails? Is it important to get it to work?
