The source distribution for zarr v3 contains everything (?) in the repo:

Including the tests is good, because shipping the tests allows them to be run over at conda (conda-forge/zarr-feedstock#113), but it would be good to clear out any other stuff that doesn't need to be there. Most notably, the notebooks folder takes up 3.8/5.2 MB of the un-compressed distriubtion.

At a guess, these folders could be removed:

  • bench
  • docs
  • notebooks
