Checklist

  • I am able to reproduce the bug with the latest debug version.
  • I've checked that there is no open or closed issue about this bug.
  • This issue contains only one bug.
  • The title of this issue accurately describes the bug.

Steps to reproduce the bug

This is a custom fork made by malopieds who has made a custom fork for innertune. Its slightly different but it still works the same.
#PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS ISSUE DOWN UNLESS THE DEVELOPER HAS CREATED A UPDATE FIX#
For the people who has tried it out and says it doesn't work, it does. its confusing but here's how to solve it on THIS version only.
*NOTE - the error roots from a bug with youtube login bug within the app, if you simply dont want to restore your old music, playlist, downloads, etc, you can download the apk below and use it as you like. if not, make sure to back up before using this method.
Screenshot_20241223_225139_InnerTune

  1. after downloading the apk from this link - https://github.com/Malopieds/InnerTune/releases/tag/v0.5.12
You will be greeted by a non logged in screen just like this (ignore the custom font lmao, thats not what it will look for you) : Screenshot_20241223_225139_InnerTune

  2. head into the backup page and do what you would normally do (restore the old file). here ive named mine stupid because this glitch is stupid lmao. :

    Screenshot_20241223_225338_Files

  3. after restoring (and this is where the people had errors) you will be faced with the same errors as before, but heres how to remove it (no this wont work with the original version). :
    Screenshot_20241223_225451_InnerTune

  4. Go into Settings --> Content --> Your google username until you enter the google login page :
    Screenshot_20241223_225304_InnerTune
    Screenshot_20241223_225611_InnerTune

  5. simply login as you normally would until you enter the ytmusic page

Screenshot_20241223_225611_InnerTune

  1. tap on your pfp icon and select "Sign Out* :
    Screenshot_20241223_225654_InnerTune
    Screenshot_20241223_225706_InnerTune

  2. once you have done that, go back and there you have it. all the songs you search or anything else will be there for you. :

Songs now only play for around 32 seconds before either giving another error or just freezing. It also gives an error when I try to seek.

Oh, lmao.
I switched to the official full version instead of the foss version and i seem to have access to more songs but a lot of them still give the error so this will do for now ig

@skullmaskkid @wawreeuh I found a better solution called Outertune
Thankfuly google has not killed the youtube music api because the person behind this forked version of innertune has made a (nightly?) version of innertune.

TO ADD YOUR BACKUP SAVE

  1. Go to original innertune and logout using the steps above.
  2. create a backup of your logged out file of innertune
  3. once you have downloaded this version simply restore the file you have just gotten and there go.

The diffrence between this forked version and the one i listed initially is the fact that it actually works 💀 . it actually lets you play the full song instead of giving the same error at 38%

downsides :
-takes a second to actually play a song but it should work

  • somtimes (in my own experience) crashes occasionally. Which makes sense since this is a nightly version.

it is now 1:50 AM on chrismas eve. i will now sleep lmao

*PS. this comment will close the thread down because of the way these forums work. I will try to make another one if this has other issues as well.

songs are just skipping for me even in the malopieds version. doesn't play any song at all. came here to see if anyone had opened the issue. any idea why it's just skipping them?

thx for the solution but for some reason, after restoring my backup, outertune starts crashing whenever i try opening it. tho, if i had to guess, id say its probably a problem with my device

metrolist is the most stable as of now. I've been using it for a couple of days after having tried outertune and it's been great so far, even better than the original lol

@gechoto thank you for linking this build I have put below a video of the build (without restoring). It works pretty well and no bugs at all. But I hope you can release a version that will allow the use of restoring.
