I installed the joplin-plugin-ocr and activated it, and it worked really well. Then, I installed the Better Markdown Viewer plugin. However, once I activated it, Joplin would start and the interface would render, but the application would freeze immediately. I could click on elements such as menu items, notes, notebooks, and the maximize/minimize buttons, but the application would stay frozen, and the memory usage as shown in the Windows task manager was over 1 GB. I found the issue #5 here, which discussed the stalling issue whereby the OCR and Better Markdown Viewer plugins were incompatible.

After rebooting my system and deleting the Better Markdown Viewer plugin from %USERPROFILE%\.config\joplin-desktop\plugins\, I was able to start Joplin with no problem. However, now, the OCR plugin no longer works. Every time I tried to use it, it attempts to perform OCR, but then displays the following error.

RuntimeError: abort(undefined). Build with -s ASSERTIONS=1 for more info.

I tried every combination of the following items, but I still can't get the plugin to work, whereas previously, it worked flawlessly.

  • Uninstall the OCR plugin from within Joplin
  • Uninstall the OCR plugin by deleting it from the plugins directory
  • Install the OCR plugin from within Joplin by using the normal menu option.
  • Install the OCR plugin by downloading ylc395.joplinOcr.jpl and then choosing the Install plugin from file option.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for me or if you need any additional information from me.
