Solution to constant connect/disconnect from PC

I found while trying to update to Alpha that if you click erase you can end up in an endless cycle of connect/disconnect on the comm.

To fix it. On the main chip there should be a port next to where you have the NFC reader plugged in. If you short out pins 6 & 7 and press the reset button it should allow you to reflash the full version.
Pins 6 & 7 are the 2 closest to the SD card slot (on my board at least) I just used a small screwdriver to bridge them and pressed the rst button.
Do that with it plgged in to your PC and it should show the comm.

Just to make sure I understand: While plugged into PC, I jumpered pins 6&7. Then I pressed the RESET button. That fixes the constant connect/reconnect issue.

Now I want to flash the Alpha10 release for the console/inventory upgrade. Do I remove the jumper and then do the install? Also, do I select the ERASE data checkbox?

Yes, the pins need to be short circuit only at the time of reset (or at power connect), that puts the board into flash mode.

Just note that if this was cause by erase of the flash before you need to first flash a new firmware install from SpoolEase.io and only then flash alpha and without erase.

All your suggestions worked. Key thing was that I should have NOT selected ERASE when flashing the Alpha version.

Another helpful pointer - if this or some other issue around inability to flash happens with SpoolEase Scale, the ESP32 board used there has a boot button on the board which is equivalent to short circuiting that pins on the console.
