Important Notice: Project Renamed to Repomix

I wanted to take a moment to share an important update about our project.
As of December 1st, 2024, due to legal considerations, Repopack has been renamed to Repomix. I want to provide you with all the details about this transition and ensure you have everything you need to continue using the tool without interruption.

What's Changing

• The project name is changing from "Repopack" to "Repomix"
• The npm package name is changing from repopack to repomix
• Configuration file names are changing from repopack.config.json to repomix.config.json and .repopackignore to .repomixignore

What's Not Changing

• All functionality remains exactly the same
• The project continues to be actively maintained by me (@yamadashy)

Migration Guide 📋

Step 1: Install the New Package

# Install the new package
npm install -g repomix

# Or use directly with npx
npx repomix

Step 2: Update Your Configuration (Automatic)

The good news is that you don't need to manually update your configuration files! When you run Repomix, it will:

1. Automatically detect any existing Repopack configuration files
2. Offer to migrate them to the new format
3. Handle the transition seamlessly

Your existing files (repopack.config.json and .repopackignore) will work during the transition period, and Repomix will help you migrate them when you're ready.

Step 3: (Optional) Clean Up

Once you've confirmed everything is working with Repomix, you can safely remove the old package:

npm uninstall -g repopack

Timeline

• November 30, 2024: Transition period
• December 1, 2024: Final transition
  • The repopack npm package ownership will be transferred
  • Repomix becomes the sole actively maintained version

The rename was a step to avoid potential legal complications, but it was handled through respectful discussion and mutual understanding. The matter was resolved peacefully without any monetary transactions involved. I'm satisfied with how the transition went and looking forward to continuing development under the new name.
