It would be good to have a really robust cross-tabulation framework. I think I got most of this up at nhtsHelper but it would probably be more useful here.

Great function! Suggest adding count and (for completeness) the rest of the Excel pivot table summarize functions. A harder (but truly cool!) project would be to include Excel's pivot table value summaries (% of row total, % of parent total, rank largest to smallest, etc).
