Prevent DocumentDock to recreate documents

If I'm not mistaken, document content is always created from template when its becomes active. Is there a way to prevent this behavior and create its content only once and keep it in memory? (to preserve UI state that is)

The xaml version has recyclable control so in theory we could do similar control for document dock I guess.

A short term solution could be also creating a custom Document (like MyDocument: IDocument) and avoid templating altogether (so that the Content is an actual content, not a template). That sounds like pretty much a easy workaround. Or am I mistaken?

You could do custom IDataTemplate but that would be like control recycling so basically we need a thing I described :)

@MihaMarkic I think you might try doing using ControlRecycling with TryToUseIdAsKey="False"

TryToUseIdAsKey="False" doesn't help. Try running your Xaml sample, create a document from template (+ button), select some text in either Title or Context TextBox, switch to another document, switch back. The text won't be selected anymore. Or am I doing something wrong?

Duh, bad example. Perhaps a better one - I've modified DocumentTemplate like this:

    <ScrollViewer>
      <StackPanel x:DataType="Document">
        <TextBlock Text="Title" />
        <TextBox Text="{Binding Title}" />
        <TextBlock Text="Context" />
        <TextBox Text="{Binding Context}" Height="1000" />
      </StackPanel>
    </ScrollViewer>
  </DocumentTemplate>

Create a document from template, scroll down a bit, create a new document from template - it will have the same v-position as first and when switching between the two, they will always be at the same v-position.
Regardless of TryToUseIdAsKey value.
