I've run into a couple of problems with the database volume using boot2docker on OSX

Using a local directory I see the following error:

initdb: could not create directory "/var/lib/postgresql/data/global": Permission denied

I think it might be related to boot2docker/boot2docker#581

Have you run into this at all?

@tobyhede, are you running postgresql on your host machine under /var/lib/postgresql/data?
Try setting another mount point in fig.yml.

@tobyhede Sorry Toby, I totally forgot about this issue. I do not use OS X, so I'm not sure I can easily replicate this. Let me know if the @christofferh suggestion solved your issue (and sorry for the late reply). And thanks @christofferh for your help!
