How we sponsor community groups

We share our profits with community groups, how?

There are some things that make this difficult:

  • Meet-up and community groups seldom have bank accounts or similar things. Which means we can not actually send them money.
  • In order to make things work for our accountant, we can't just hand out money
  • Our conference is set up as a not-for-profit conference and can not fund comercial activity

Each group gets set aside a virtual bank account with us, which basically is just numbers in a spreadsheet. We inform them about the amount we have set aside.

In order to tap into their funds, they need to send us a request. Each request gets reviewed against our [list of demands](Community Sharing Demands). If everything is ok, the group sends us the invoices and we refund them. In return we get promotion at the event. We pay them to promote our event. They get an awesome speaker, a venue or whatever to help their event.
