Multiple virtual desktops with different files and folders

Hi,
I have searched Issues, Wiki and Discord and cannot determine an answer to my question. Mac Spaces allows me to have multiple desktops each dedicated to a different application, but all the desktops will show the same folders and files. What I need is multiple desktops with different folders and files available on each desktop for different projects. For example one desktop with the files and folders for home projects, and another desktop with files and folders for work projects. I seem to be able to do this with virtual screens, but I can only switch between them using "Set to Main Display". In addition often it is difficult to move the mouse pointer into the display.

Is there an easier way to do this?
I have mac os 12.7.6 Monterey and cannot upgrade further.

You should be able to open a virtual screen in Picture in Picture window anytime. You can set the PIP window full screen as well. Maybe it's a simpler method to change screens like that?

Could you kindly tell me how or where I can find the instructions for creating the PIP window and moving files and folders into it?
