App is no longer in my menu bar at the top right

I can't get the app into the menu bar anymore I restarted the app I restarted the Mac I tried everything it's just gone and doesn't go into the menu bar anymore what should I do please help me

Hi there,

• make sure you are using the latest app version: https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay/releases
• if you have the menu item hidden, simply launch the app again, that should open up Settings. Then enable Show app in the menu bar under Settings/Menu.

I had the same issue on a M3 Mac with Sequoia 15.0.1. The app didn't start and also a restart didn't help. The working solution for me was to download the latest version and replace it with the version in the application folder. Now it works again :)

Which macOS version and app version are you running? What happens when you relaunch the app - do you see Settings open?

You can try launching the app from terminal and see if it is running or has some error:

/Applications/BetterDisplay.app/Contents/MacOS/BetterDisplay -v

Yes and when I restart the app via a button command it's as if I just closed it so it doesn't restart at all

Well, I have no idea. I recommend trying a full app reset (https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay/wiki/Safe-mode,-app-reset,-app-removal#exhaustive-reset) and also delete the app and redownload it. It is possible that the app bundle is somehow broken. It seems like the app is stuck at an initial phase where there is a consistency and environmental check done by the licensing module acting as a gatekeeper - it somehow does not let the app load, probably because detects the app binary corrupted or some other issue. Do you have any special systems tool or system alterations installed maybe?

Can you give some details on your configuration?

I am sorry about the issue, but I simply don't know what's wrong. Based on the log the app startup just hangs at the licensing integrity check. It might be that some other app or system alteration somehow interferes with the process. I understand the frustration.

Btw what Mac model are you using?

You might want to try quickly adding a clean macOS installation to a new volume to check if the app works properly on it - and then install your usual stuff one by one, this might help isolating whatever is interfering with the app. I have no better idea, sorry.

I have a MacBook Pro m2 max chip from 2024 latest version on it and apps like Icon Champ or command x and xmenu or Paste

Or Office 365

What if they send me the latest version for download, maybe that will work? Maybe the new version doesn't get along with my Mac 😅 I bought a pro version and activated prank and pull movements after that it was but I don't know if that's related 😅🤔

It's only where I wrote happened so it can only be something that was downloaded or changed shortly before because I've had the app for a while and it's always worked so what I did in the short time before I downloaded new version of the app with Icon Champ I wanted to change the app icon from betterdisplay new macOS version and Office 365 downloaded

Hmm. I am not sure about Icon Champ. Did you try to change the app icon inside the app bundle? If so, that might change the Bundle itself and might trigger the validation error (as the validation module might think it is some kind of tampering). That might be the explanation.
