I have a premium version [3.0.5], and before the update to Mac OS Sequoia, I could nicely scale the resolution of my LG SDQHD, which is connected via a DisplayLink to my Macbook Air M2 14". As the main display, I have an LG Ultrawide 4K2K connected via a TS4 dock. For some reason now, it is impossible to enable smooth scaling for it. How could I solve this hurdle? The native 2560 x 2880 is really small and it renders its use very difficult. Any insights? Thanks! |

Smooth Scaling works (and always worked) for natively connected displays only. With DisplayLink the DL driver/app manages the display (which is exposed as a virtual display to the system), BetterDisplay can't add custom resolutions. The best you can do is to create a virtual screen using BetterDisplay with an appropriate aspect ratio (this has flexible scaling capabilities enabled by default) and stream it to the DisplayLink screen, but this is not an ideal solution. |

Thanks, I solved it by associating a Virtual Display to the LG SDQHD connected via DiplayLink. Do you happen to know if I can disable the actual display or make sure it does not appear in the Displays in Settings? |

Hi @waydabber , I have this exact same set up and I've been looking for an answer for months about this issue... Two monitors connected to a M1 via Display link (one is ultrawide 3440x1440). Image is clear but everything is very small. I am hesitating to buy Better Display Pro version as it's 32$ CAD and I saw you say it's not an ideal solution. I would like to test it before... but I never figured how to make it work in the 7 days trial. Now I can't test what you just suggested here. Im blocked, and I'm looking to confirm BetterDisplay could be a solution for me and the closest answer I found is here... Can you help in any ways? Reseting the free trial period? |
