Rename multiple Apple Studio Displays?

Hello,

I've searched around but haven't found a full explanation of how I can go about renaming 4 studio displays so that I know which one I'm picking for screen sharing, etc.. Since they're all the same manufacturer and model, the in app overwrite changes all of them. I was going to try to update the EDID but I noticed that the existing EDID data is 512 bytes and updating only allows for 256 bytes. Out of curiosity I did try to update the EDID with AW EDID, changing only the Display Product Name and the resulting file was 384 bytes.

Any ideas? I'm on an M1 Max MBP.

You can change their name in-app but it will be difficult to have their names changed system-wide. You can apply any EDID on-the-fly, there is no size limit for that (the 256 byte limit is when you write an EDID to an external device, like an EDID dummy dongle - which is fine for most of these dongles).

Thanks for the reply. Do you think there are any other options for achieving what I'm looking for, or is it pretty much impossible without Apple officially supporting it?
