Black borders appear around the screen

Dear BetterDisplay Team,

I would like to report an issue I am experiencing while using BetterDisplay with my MSI G274QPF monitor (native resolution 2560x1440). While the application works well in adjusting the resolution without losing quality, I have noticed that when selecting lower resolutions for a more comfortable use (such as 2048x1152), black borders appear around the screen. These borders add up to approximately 1 cm on the sides and 0.5 cm at the top of the monitor.

I have tried adjusting the physical dimensions of the monitor in BetterDisplay’s settings (596.74 mm x 335.66 mm), but the issue persists. I have also checked the physical monitor settings menu but have not found a solution.

I would like to know if there is any way to resolve this issue within the app or if this is a known compatibility problem with this type of monitor. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving this inconvenience.

I am not sure why that is, the aspect ratio seems fine. Can you tell me a bit more about your config, app version used and whether you enabled flexible scaling in the app? https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay/wiki/Fully-scalable-HiDPI-desktop

Hi Waydabber, I tried configuring following the link you provided, but nothing seems to change. The resolution I have is perfect for viewing without any issues, but it's strange that there isn’t a way to adjust the black borders that appear. If you need more information, I can provide it. Hmm. What do you mean by black borders? That seems to be the panel area where there are no pixels. Many edge-to-edge displays look like this (where the panel is fully exposed and not covered by a bezel).

I would like to apologize, I made a mistake. What I described as "black borders" is actually the area without pixels, meaning there is no screen in those regions. So, what I was referring to is already correct and understood. I really appreciate your help and understanding.
