Check for Updates dialog buttons not responsive

3. I have to press either button 3 or 4 times for it to work

Yes, this is a known Sparkle issue (the framework used for updates). Will hopefully fixed when I implement this:

Right, this is not ideal. I investigated the problem somewhat deeper, the problem is that Sparkle is not really suited for modern SwiftUI apps, it handles its own UI entirely separately. An approach would be to replace the entire UI (it provides a way to do that) but that is somewhat complicated and not worth it I think. An alternative might be to move something simpler or maybe create a customized update framework reusing existing lightweight tools like https://github.com/mxcl/AppUpdater or improved variant like https://github.com/s1ntoneli/AppUpdater.

Still thinking about what to do.

I just updated to 3.1.2 and now I'm not able to clear the "You're up to date!" window. Clicking anywhere within the window produces the macOS alert sound. Since the window sits on top of every other window, I have to quit BetterDisplay via the Activity Monitor to escape from this. I'm running macOS 14.6.1.

OK, I may have found my culprit, being another app. If I have Cisco Jabber (14.1.0) running, when I launch BetterDisplay 3.1.2 and try "Check for Updates", the "You're up to date!" window OK button will not respond (macOS alert sound). In this state, if I quit Cisco Jabber, the OK button in the BetterDisplay window will work again. If BetterDisplay is already running, and I launch Cisco Jabber, the problem does not occur, until I quit BetterDisplay and launch BetterDisplay again. The problem apparently occurs if BetterDisplay starts after the Cisco Jabber app.
I've even experienced the behavior described originally in the post, where trying the OK multiple times sometimes causes the window to respond, and go away. This seems to occur sometimes when BetterDisplay is started before Cisco Jabber.

I suspect that the Cisco Jabber app may not be the only app that contributes to this problem, since I've seen this problem once during my testing this morning, without Cisco Jabber running, and the problem went away when I closed another app (PRTG Network Monitor).

The modal dialog will not respond for about a second after appearing, but that is (somewhat) normal. I am not sure why Cisco Jabber would interact with an other app's modal dialog this way. Strange.

The modal dialog response delay I've experienced, since it doesn't generate a macOS alert sound when clicking on the OK button or the dialog window, like I was experiencing.
The behavior with Jabber open is certainly strange. I'll likely be shifting from Cisco Jabber to Zoom Phone in December, as part of a shift at my institution.
