Fix for the apple silicon extern display flickering?

External display flickering on apple silicon Macs is pretty common issue and there are threads on macrumors etc.
The only way I can solve this fix for me is to enable HDR on my external monitor but my HDR on that monitor is kinda"ugly.

Is there any fix/settings with better display to fix this/use my monitor without HDR?

It depends on what kind of flickering it is as there are many. HDR itself does not solve flickering, switching to HDR mode might have a side effect that eliminates certain types of flicker with certain displays.

You can try turning off GPU (temporal) dithering under the app's Image Adjustments tabs and see if that helps. If both the GPU and the display uses temporal dithering algorithms with somewhat different frequencies, that might cause additional strains due to an extra interference effect.

(+ you can also try forcing 8bit connection color depth for DPCD negotiation by editing the windowserver config file, that should limit FRC with some external display - depending on various factors).

I don't see the GPU dithering option on a new install, has it been removed or not yet been released in stable?

It should be under Color Mode in the app menu (was moved from Image Adjustments in one of the prior versions). Let me know if you don't have this. Available for Apple Silicon only.
