Title: Blind and Light actions in Smart Home

Submitter(s):

Ege Korkan

Motivation:

There are actions in a smart home environment that typically take longer than the usual timeout limit of the protocols like HTTP. Such actions are closing the blinds or long transitions of lights whose length can be set by the user.

Expected Participating Entities:

  • Things such as Lights and Blinds
  • Consumer application (typically a smartphone or web application)
  • Human Agent

Workflow:

  • Consumer application sends a request to invoke an action
  • Thing starts a physical process like closing the blind
  • Consumer wants to stop closing the blind, like when it reaches the desired amount when a human is looking at it (there is no "go to height X" action). Consumer application sends a request to close the blind

Related Use Cases (if any):

None

Existing solutions:

Provide links to relevant solutions to be considered if you know any.

Identified Requirements by the TF:

To be filled after submission. Examples of requirements include usage of specific communication protocols, media types, platforms, security and privacy mechanisms, or accesibility.

Comments:

This workflow is the default action behavior in webthings.io gateway
