Legitimately looking heart rate data when not even wearing my Mi Band 2 #27

When I wear my Mi Band 2 I get correct heart rate data. But when I remove the Band from my wrist and just place it on the table I continue to get data that look absolutely normal, as if I was still wearing the Band.

Any idea how we can detect when the Band is not worn then?
