Pin 8 - Naviagation?

Really keen to try this out, one thought - I believe the pin 8 on the RTI/Sat Nav/CD Changer port is for navigation announcements. I'm presuming this is mono instead of the usual left/right inputs that are used, but I'd like to think that audio sent to this pin would interrupt any audio being played on the HU for sat nav directions?

Anyone with enough tinkering capability able to test this? AFAIK all solutions that exist either hand made like this or off the shelf allow bluetooth music streaming and calls to be handled as if the phone is a CD Changer. If your phone receives a call and a mic has been set up, then the call can be handled handsfree as long as the head unit is switched to CD Changer. Also, any phone based navigation software such as WAZE will only work if the head unit is switched across to CD Changer. Having a phone call or sat nav directions cut in over any audio source would be completely awesome, but I don't really know how to achieve it.

I have a HU850 but no RTI installed on my XC70.
