It's really simple to have this feature, a bit surprised it's still not there.

I've used https://github.com/shadowwalker/next-pwa and you can find the implementation in https://github.com/Ditectrev/Practice-Exams-Platform/blob/main/next.config.js & on https://education.ditectrev.com/

with PWA the app & Vercel's commerce without, screenshots below
