Link to Desktop not working

When using "Create Link" nothing happens. That is, I cannot find any shortcut on any of my desktops.

Android 8.0.0, Nova Launcher Prime 5.5.4

Thanks Martin. To interested contributors: I believe this is because Android stopped supporting the previous way of creating shortcuts.
This would need a new App Shortcuts implementation to keep working from 8.0 and up. I believe Firefox Focus does the same thing.

I am observing the same behavior on Android 8.0 with Vanilla Android Launcher

I am not an android developer but maybe widgets can be utilized for this purpose? Many of my apps seem to do that

I like Dir's simplicity but this feature is a deal-breaker since this is the reason why I need another app for files.

Hope this gets fixed!
