Use Case

Currently, the MCP-server interface only covers some aspects and lacks, for instance, ability to set disposition. Hence, using, for instance, n8n will result in a need to have orchestrator LLMs to be able to call MCP and rest API and additional configurations to recognize them. Add the same time as the MCP calls work without any such needs.

what tools you would like to see in MCP?

From my experience, the more tools you put, the harder the job becomes for the mcp client to decide so that's why we don't have full coverage - but happy to add more!

I agree that the more tools the trickier for mcp clients, but often it is possible to restrict which tools to be accessible to an LLM via configuration.

In my case I use an LLM to support the decsion on how to use hindsight i would like to be able to, for instance, manage directives, change disposition, missions, background etc to reflect an evolving "mind". I also use the LLM to understand the behavior based on the stored entiities, documents, memories etc. All of this is easier to do via mcp.

I would add a env config for exposing mcp tools, something like HINDSIGHT_API_MCP_TOOLS=core|extended

in extended we can expose basically all the API endpoints and keep the current one the same with core (default is "core")
