Gamepad viewer not working in OBS, but works in the preset editor.

No inputs are showing up in OBS when I try showing gamepad inputs.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Plug in a controller. Set up input viewer. Select anything compatible with gamepad inputs (such as the gamepad preset with its companion json). See that no input from the gamepad will show up in the viewer. However, selecting these same files on the preset editor works fine.

Expected behavior

I am expecting to see my controller inputs.

I'm sure it works for people somehow, but I am not sure why it would not be working for me here. I have tried with multiple controllers. The keyboard input overly works great. The gamepad viewer website also works. I was trying this on 5.0.4, then assumed it had to be an issue with OBS, so I tried updating all the firmware and it didn't work.

Prior to updating to the latest firmware, the triggers did actually work, though. I have the triggers in button mode and only those two buttons would work. Again, on the same preset, the preset editor website works for all buttons and sticks.

Just an update, I was trying it today and the trigger buttons work again, as described above, but nothing else
