Trash icon is really laggy to update

I know there was a problem a while ago with the unread mail icon on the trash folder showing an incorrect number. The problem has sort of been solved, but I still find after clearing the trash folder the icon does not update very quickly. Sometimes I'm sure I've navigated to a new folder after clearing and the trash is still showing the icon as it was pre clearing. I have to navigate back to the trash and wait for it to update. It's a bit annoying.
