If you spawn mobs near other players, and then someone disconnects. When they reconnect, all mobs that were spawned are invisible and they dont affect the reconnected player (they dont attack them or push them around). The people who didnt disconnect can still attack the mobs. The mobs are also invulnerable in this state.
