The Elite-C powers on and is detected by hid_listen properly when it is not connected to the m0110, but it powers off as soon as it is plugged into the keyboard. I have a straight 4p4c cable with wire 1 going into GND, wire 2 going into D0, wire 3 going into D1 and wire 4 going into VCC. I used the pinout on this wiki article to convert the pinouts on the geekhack page into the Elite-C's. What am I doing wrong?

Seems that you are doing correct for the microcontroller pin names.
Make sure you are not getting connector pinout reverse topologically.
