For playability, I'd rather the keys were:

c: tab
c#: 1
d: q
d#: 2
e: w
f: e
f#: 4
g: r
g#: 5
a: t
a#: 6
b: y
c: u
c#: 8
d: i
d#: 9
e: o
f: p
f#: -
g: [
g#: =
a: ]
a#: backspace
b: enter
c: shift-enter?

Top C isn't ideal, but you see the idea, the mappings are more like a real keyboard. I'd consider just doing 2 octaves to like the moog sub phatty: https://www.moogmusic.com/products/phattys/sub-phatty
